Virginia Dare Bryant McCrimmon

Virginia Dare Bryant McCrimmon, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013.

Virginia is a Halifax County native and was born on September 22, 1929 to Ruth Estelle Barnes Bryant and Floyd Anderson Bryant.

She was a graduate of the class of 1947 from Roanoke Rapids High School.

She retired from North Carolina Power in 1991 with 43 years of service and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Russell McCrimmon and her brother, Earl A. Bryant, Sr. She is survived by her nephew, Earl A. (Andy) Bryant, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids; a niece, Claudia Ruth Bryant and a Sister in Law, Cynthia P. Bryant, both of Asheville, NC.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 9, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at the home of her nephew, Andy Bryant, 235 Oakwood Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services.

 

Officiating will be Rev. Randy Martin. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.  


Judith 'Judy' Lyles Dixon

Judith “ Judy “ Lyles Dixon, 71 of Marietta, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

Judy was a native of Roanoke Rapids was the daughter of the late Curtis Elvin and Elsie Warrick Lyles and was also preceded in death by her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Judy was a graduate of Hampton High School, Hampton, Va. She was a loving Mother and grandmother.

She had a caring Christian heart. She loved sewing, genealogy, scrapbooking, watching her grandson play baseball, spending time with her granddaughter and attending women’s ministry bible studies at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Marietta, Ga.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Robin Dixon of Marietta, Ga., daughter Terry Dixon Gibeau and her husband Wayne of Flowery Branch, Ga.; grandchildren Dylan Curtis Gibeau and Ashlyn Brooke Gibeau ; sister, Kaye Lyles Pruitt and her husband Paul of Carrollton, Va.; brother-cousin Greg Radcliffe and his wife Elizabeth of Germantown, TN.; niece Hillary Ketterman of Spokane, WA.; six great-nieces and a multitude of cousins, relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Monday August 17, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

Elvin Lee Moody 62, of Roanoke Rapids died Saturday August 17, 2013.

Elvin a native of Halifax County was the son of the late Clarence Goodridge and Grace Johnson Moody. He loved Music, dancing, and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter Stacy L. Coley and her husband Thomas of Stokes; his brothers Clarence Gordon Moody and his wife Libby of Kernersville and Dave A. Moody and his wife Angela of Gaston; his step- mother Margaret Moody of Gaston; his three grand children Caleb, Farren and Noah and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday August 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Tony Smith officiating. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday August 20, 2013 from 7-8:30 at the funeral home.

Ruby Alene Grimes

Ruby Alene Grimes, 88, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013.

She was born on June 28, 1925 to Edgar Allen Stafford and Agnes Eason Stafford in Johnston County, NC.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Joseph Junior Grimes.  She is survived by 4 daughters, Wanda Grimes Labozzetta and her husband Tony of Chapin, SC; Gloria Grimes Boyles of Columbia, SC; Patricia Grimes Sandlin and her husband Chris of Roanoke Rapids; and Nancy Grimes Adkins of Smithfield, NC; 2 sons, Kenneth I. Grimes and wife Beverly of South Haven, MS; William O. Grimes and wife Bettie of Murfreesboro, NC; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  

She was a member of Smith United Methodist Church and served with her husband in Methodist ministries for 37 years.  

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Smith United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Schwartz officiating.   

The family will receive friends at Smith United Methodist Church from 1:00 pm until service time on August 21, 2013.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to United hospice 301 S. church street Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Walter Earl 'Butch' Daniel

2 Timothy 4:7:  “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”

Walter Earl “Butch” Daniel, 56, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday August 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Butch, a native of Mecklenburg County Virginia, was the son of the late Linwood Wilson Daniel and his mother Frances Writtenberry Kidd and his step-father, Thomas Kidd. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy “Timmy” Daniel and two brothers Donald “Buck” Kidd and Wallace Kidd.

 

He was employed with LaBrecque Logging. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was the president of Daniel Hunt Club.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry Williams Daniel; his sisters, Emma Scriber of LaCrosse, Va., Sandra Murray and her husband Michael of Henderson, NC and Seretha Williams and her husband Philip of Henderson, NC; brother Kelvin Kidd of Gasburg, Va.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and a niece with a special place in his heart, Natalie Williams.

Funeral Service will be held Friday August 23, 2013 at 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Russ Collins officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.askewfs.com  

Tammy Jean Denham

Tammy Jean Denham, 51, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away August 15, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Curt G. Shelton.

Tammy is survived by her mother, Judy Brewer, her Aunt Yvonne Hathaway and cousins Amber McClum and Jessie Shelton.  

She is also survived by four special friends, Martha and Todd Gearheart and Jimmy and Betty Grant of Midland, Texas.

Tammy leaves behind her loving animals; Honey, Hinrick, Hilga, Dolly, Precious and RayRay.

 A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2013 in the chapel at Askew Funeral Services. Rev. Randy Martin will officiate.

Barbara Allen Mills

Barbara Allen Mills 66, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday August 20, 2013 at her home.

Barbara a native of Jacksonville was the daughter of the late Joseph William Allen, Sr.

She was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in History and Secondary Education. She later went back to school while living in Whiteville earning her degree in Elementary Education from Pembroke State.  She taught school in Nash County, Whiteville City Schools, Waccamaw Academy, Halifax County, Weldon City Schools and retired from the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District.

She loved teaching school, especially Sunday school at Rosemary Baptist Church where she was a member. 

Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years Andy Mills; their daughter Amy Mills Olson and her husband Matt of Winston-Salem;  their son Blaine Allen Mills and his fiancé’ Jessica Morris of Roanoke Rapids; their grandchildren Riley and Brayden Mills, Ethan and Sadie Olson; her Mother Evelyn T. Allen and her brother Joseph William Allen, Jr. both of Jacksonville.

Funeral service will be held Friday August 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Rosemary Baptist Church with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The Family will receive friends Friday from 9:45 A.M. until service time in the Church fellowship hall.

Lottie Mae Sebren

Lottie Mae Sebren left this life on Thursday, Aug 8, 2013.

She was born Feb 21, 1926 in Lake Providence, LA.

Her husband of 65 years, Warner Sebren, Sr., departed this life on Aug 1, 2011, but they have been reunited in heaven.

They lived in many places much like servicemen as they served in the army of their Lord. Love and music and the Bible were their weapons to touch many lives.

They are missed by family and friends. Lottie is survived by her three children, Warner Sebren, Jr., Thomas Sebren and Susan Evans.

She is survived by her sister, Cecile Davis, and by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren (with one on the way) and too many nieces and nephews to count.

 

Lottie’s family extends their invitation to family and friends for her memorial service at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 pm to celebrate her life and her new life in heaven with Rev. Dennis Joyner officiating.

Paul Douglas 'Doug' Hardy

Paul Douglas “Doug” Hardy of Roanoke Rapids, son of the late Brenda Dickens Hardy, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.  

Doug is survived by his wife Donna Ramsey Hardy and his daughters Kayla Hardy Pittman and her husband J.C. of Roanoke Rapids and Paula Hardy of Roanoke Rapids.  He is also survived by his father John Paul Hardy Jr. and his wife Jackie of Scotland Neck, his sister Flora Beth Butts and her husband Marvin of Roanoke Rapids, his niece Addyson Butts, his nephew Marvin Butts, his mother-in-law Helen McCoy Ramsey of Franklin, NC, his sister-in-law Debi Vinson and her husband Dexter of Franklin, NC and a brother-in-law Michael Ramsey and his wife Candy of Franklin, NC.

Doug was a great daddy, husband, father and brother. He loved coaching his girls in basketball and softball. Doug was an active member of First Christian Church where he served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher. In its existence he was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Exchange Club. Doug, a Scotland Neck native, Doug was a 1982 graduate of Hobgood Academy and graduated from Western Carolina University in 1986 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a Chief Probation and parole officer for Halifax County. Doug was an avid hunter and a UNC Tar Heel fan.

The family will receive friends at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday, August 29, 6:30-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Friday at   First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids with Reverend Bane Angles officiating. Burial will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

Aubrey Nicholson Dickens

Aubrey Nicholson Dickens 85, of Lake Gaston died Monday August 26, 2013 surrounded by his loving Family.

Aubrey a Native of Halifax county was the son of the late James Raleigh, Sr. and Lucy Ester Warren Dickens. He was also preceded in death by a sister Lula Dickens Loflin and two brothers James R. “J.R.” Dickens, Jr.; and Grady Dickens.

He was a life-long member of Rocky Swamp Primitive Baptist Church having served as a Deacon. He was active in many farming organizations. He was a founding member of the Darlington volunteer fire department and a founding trustee of Enfield Academy.  Aubrey served his country in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife Julia Foster Dickens; four daughters Betty Ann Mohorn and her husband Bentley of Halifax; Michelle Dickens of Wilmington; Carolyn  Wood and her husband Tom of Columbus, Ga.; and Lisa Bullard and her husband Bill of Stanfield, NC; two sons Nick Dickens and his wife Margaret and Jeff Dickens and his wife Sylvia all of Littleton; step son Matthew Myers and his wife Vivkie of Jacksonville , Fl.; twelve granddaughters; two great granddaughters and six great grandsons; two sisters Mary Elizabeth Alford of Littleton and Peggie Auten and her husband Dean of Irmo, SC; three brothers Winford Dickens and his wife Rose of Lake Gaston; Johnny Dickens and his wife Jean of Williamston and Perry Dickens and his wife Hortense of Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday August 29, at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral Services with Elder Harold Pittman and Elder Garland Vick officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rocky Swamp Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Nadine Archer

Mary Nadine Archer 80, of Roanoke Rapids died Thursday September 5, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.

Nadine was the daughter of the late Tommie and Ruby Della Taylor Williams. She was also preceded in death by a son Keith Dean Archer and her sister Sarah Lee Moore.

She was a member of East 10th street Church of Christ.

Nadine is survived by her husband Robert A. Archer and their son Bob T. Archer of Littleton.

Nadine’s Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the Graveside on Saturday September 7, 2013 in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Minister Dave Chapman officiating

The Family will receive friends after the service at the Cemetery.

Edward Bowers Daniel Jr.

Ezra Bowers Daniel Jr. of Roanoke Rapids NC died at the Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC September 6, 2013 following an extended illness.  

Ezra Jr. was born June 19, 1938 in Halifax County NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ezra Bowers Daniel, Sr. and  Marie Daniels Daniel.      

He is survived by a brother, James Arthur Daniel Wilson of Winston-Salem NC, his aunt, Ruth Roberts of Midland, Texas, his special friend, Jean Crutchfield of Roanoke Rapids, and many cousins and friends.

Ezra Jr. attended Bear Swamp Baptist Church and Aurelian Springs High School.  He spent most of his working years at Hardees Restaurant and some at McDonalds.  He liked to visit with his extended family and seldom missed the annual Bowers Family Reunions.

A graveside service will be held at Bear Swamp Church Cemetery near Brinkleyville, 15227 NC Highway 48 on Tuesday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Howard Guidry

The family would like to thank Jean Crutchfield for the special attention and care she gave him during his illness.

Renee Doan O'Connor

 Renee’ Doan O’Conner 45, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, September 12, 2013.

Renee’ was born March 4, 1968 in Duval County, Florida to Bobby Doan and Carol Garner Werner.

She is preceded in death by her father.

She was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in 2011.

She is survived by her longtime special friend Tim Glasgow of the home; her daughter Heather Rees Rosenberger and her husband David of Elizabeth City; her Mother Carol Werner of Gaston; sister’s Regina Taylor of Gaston; Doris Tart of Roanoke Rapids; Darlene Brown of Nashville; Chrystal Adams of Durham; special niece Savannah; friend Wes Allen of Gaston and her loving Cat “Pretty Boy “

Graveside service for Renee’ will be held Sunday September 15, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

Virginia Barnes 'Ginny' Coons

Virginia Barnes (Ginny) Coons, 79, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 with her children by her side.

Virginia, a native of Halifax County was the daughter of the late Charlie Cleveland Barnes and Mary Elizabeta Sabrovich Barnes. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, and one brother.

Virginia is survived by her son Butch Coons and wife Patricia of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Karen Coons Prince and husband Scott of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 grandchildren, Samantha Leigh Meeks and Grady Lee (Gray) Neal III; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

Memorial services will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Martin officiating.

Ruby Leggett Ivey

Ruby Leggett Ivey, 89, of Weldon died Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Ruby was the daughter of the late James Henry Leggett and Mary Louise Wobbelton Leggett.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Willie Ivey and her son, James Willie Ivey, Jr. 

She was a long time member of Weldon Baptist Church and enjoyed being very active in the church choir.  

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Inez I. Futrell and her husband John of Woodland; Margo I. Smith and her husband Ashley of Roanoke Rapids; Angel I. Whitby and her husband Andy of Weldon; her sisters, Helen Bryant and Hazel Smith of Roanoke Rapids;  her daughter in law, Janet Ivey of Wendell; 6 grandchildren, Scott Davis, Darrin Davis, Lee Smith, Erin S. Earle, Kelly Ivey, and Leslie Ivey; 6 great grandchildren, Dayne Smith, Miranda Smith, Jonathan Earle, Conner Earle, Kayleigh Smith, and Merrigan Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids and other times at 701 Henry Street, Roanoke Rapids.  

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Weldon Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Howell officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family expresses a special thanks for the concern and loving care provided by Roanoke Rapids Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Amy Dufford Morgan

Amy Dufford Morgan, 87, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.  

She was the daughter of the late Floyd LeMoyne Dufford and Myrtle Aretta Parker Dufford and the wife of the late William Richard Morgan.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard LeMoyne Morgan and Gary Kent Morgan; two brothers Tom Dufford and Francis Dufford; and her sister Charmin Dufford.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Sue Morgan Joyner and her husband Terry of Roanoke Rapids; her son Tommy Morgan and wife Juliana of Wilmington; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Tharpe and her husband Tommy, Michael Todd Morgan and his wife Christie, Morgan J. Keeter and her husband Gus, Donna Griffies and her husband Scott, Kay Allen and her husband Jay; 8 great grandchildren, Jacob and Taylor Griffies, Ryan, Zachary, and Cole Tharpe, Emilee and Madison Allen, and Camden Keeter; her sister Sue Hergenroder of Ohio; and special friend Vicki Trignano of Henrico.

Amy was a graduate of Butler Senior High School in Butler County, PA.  She was also a founding member of the Roanoke Rapids Senior Club.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services officiated by Rev. Randy Martin. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Vivian Hortense Taylor

Vivian Hortense Taylor, 88, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013.  

She was the daughter of the late George Buck Taylor and Bessie King Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Edwards and her husband RAO; her brothers, R.L. “Tom” Taylor and his wife Beatty, Jarvis E. Taylor and his wife Ellen, Levi T. Taylor, Raymond M. Taylor and his wife Margaret; her brother-in-law, Calvin L. “Bo” Batton; and her nephew Bob Edwards and his wife Betty.

She is survived by her sister Lois Taylor Batton of Roanoke Rapids; her brother Edward W. Taylor and his wife Mable of Raleigh; her nieces Janet Marshburn and her husband Robert of Raleigh, Penny Rudolph and her husband David of Israel, Kristie Monteque and her husband Bill of Goldsboro, Debra Wright and her husband Douglas of Roanoke Rapids, Katherine Morgan and her husband Danny of Pauley’s Island, SC; her nephews Steve Taylor and his wife Millie of Roanoke Rapids, Craig Taylor and his wife Ann of Richmond, VA., Michael Taylor and his wife Donna of Chapel Hill, Jeffrey Taylor and his wife Cathy of Alexandria, VA., Barry Taylor of Lexington, NC, Edward Taylor, Jr. and his wife Laura of Alexandria, VA., and Felix Batton of Cornelius, NC.

Vivian was a 1943 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School.  She worked for Civil Service as a Varityper and was a member of First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids. She was an avid walker and spent many hours each day enjoying this hobby.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Cedarwood Cemetery officiated by Rev. Bane Angles.  The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Margaret Louise Hamilton Johnston

Margaret Louise Hamilton Johnston of Weldon died on October 19, 2013 at Sterling House in Rocky Mount.  She was born July 8, 1937 in Whitakers, NC to Joseph Powell and Margaret Louise Hamilton. 

She graduated from Saint Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh in 1957 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from  Duke University  in 1959. She enjoyed her involvement with the Colonial Dames, Thursday Afternoon Club,  Bridge Club, and  historical preservation.  Her love for life was visible by her smile and grace and shone through in her fellowship with friends and family.  Her joy was good times filled with rhythm, dance, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Powell and Margaret Louise Hamilton, her uncle Marcus Battle Braswell, and her daughter in law, Paige Thompson Cutchin.  

She leaves behind her children Louise Cutchin Thompson (Kevin), Lawrence”Gil”  McGilbra Cutchin, Jr , William “Ran” Ransom  Johnston, Jr (Joan), and Martha Johnston Chesnutt (Stephen) and her grandchildren Christina Browne (Gary), Jeffrey Kelly, Joseph Kelly, McGilbra Cutchin, Matti Margaret Cutchin, Ran Johnston, Martha Luck Johnston, Margaret Ivy Johnston, Mary Powell Chesnutt, and Elizabeth Chesnutt.

Visitation will be at the home of Martha and Stephen Chesnutt on Tuesday October 22 from 5-7 pm.  A Graveside Service at Pine View Cemetery in Rocky Mount on Wednesday October 23 at 3 pm with the Reverend Peter Bynum officiating.  Following this service there will be a celebration of her life at the home of Martha and Stephen Chesnutt.  Friends and family are invited.

Mildred 'Millie' Virginia Barnes

Mildred “ Millie “ Virginia Barnes 83, of Castalia, died Wednesday October 23, 2013.

Millie a native of Northampton County was the daughter of the late Pete and Ruth Floyd Moody. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Jennie Lynn Lewis and three sister Bennie Boyce, Teresa Conrad and Earline Smith.

Millie is survived by her sons William Ronald Lewis and his wife Mary of venice, Florida; Marshall Vance Lewis of Atlantic Beach; Charles Michael Lewis and his wife Sheila of Chesapeake, Va.; step-son Mitch Barnes and his wife Dana of Missouri; two brothers Elbert Moody and his wife Louise of Greensboro and Pete Moody and his wife Maxine of Gaston.

Funeral service for Millie will be held Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at white Level Baptist Church in Louisburg with Rev Henry Stamper officiating. 

Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends at the Church Saturday from 1 P.M. until Service time.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

 

Shirley Longmire Brown

Shirley Longmire Brown, 72, of Roanoke Rapids died the evening of Saturday,  November 2, 2013 at her home.

Shirley, a native of Halifax County,  was the daughter of the late Horace Ray and Pearl Ruth Dixon.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Mike Brown and a sister,  Ann Taylor.

Shirley loved children, was a very hard worker, a very sweet lady and has now joined her sister in Heaven.

She is survived by her sons,  “Boot” Brown of Roanoke Rapids and David Brown and his fiancé,  Wendy Edwards of Pleasant Hill; her sister Nancy Barnett and her husband Chris of Wilmington; her brother Bill Longmire and his wife Nita of Roanoke Rapids; nieces Christie Johnson and her husband Alan; Missy Taylor; Karen Hawkins and her husband V.J., all of Roanoke Rapids; and Tonya Simmons and her husband Carl of Rocky Mount ; nephews Mark and Luke Richey of Wilmington; great nephews Cameron and Conner Johnson; David Taylor and Jessica Pleasant and their daughter Emerson Ann Taylor; cousin Anita Maready and her husband D.L. of Wilmington.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in cedarwood cemetery in Weldon.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 at Askew Funeral Services.
